I will never forget the day I was in the studio with Mark Ronson and he tells me that he has this girl who sounds “like a mix between Lauryn Hill and Bette Middler”. I started laughing immediately because that combo didn’t seem humanly possible AT ALL.
He had just returned from Abbey Road studios in London where he just finished mixing “Back To Black”. The very second he pressed play on that song, I feel my life change. We talked about what I was working on at the time and I remember how excited he was about the album he had just finished. I remember the day my friend Larry sent me the full album over SKYPE and it became my mission to harass everyone I knew to listen to this album.
I remember I went to one of her first shows in NY at Joes Pub and I was completely taken by her shyness and her overall presence at the same moment. It was captivating.
Even though I never had the pleasure to meet Amy, I took the news of her passing as I would of a close friend. That is what her music was to me, it felt very personal.
I miss you Amy, we all do. I pray that everyone remembers the good things and I hope that wherever your soul is now, you are surround by love. We will keep it going for you down here. WE OWE YOU.

I brought Chris Glover AKA Penguin Prison through to Soho House NY for a Groovy Rooftop DJ SET last night and it was one of the best sets I have ever heard. He played disco, funk, electro, and overall Newness that had the roof vibin into the late eve.
I will be bringing him back through next month for a proper live band session.
